Castles In The Air

Well, what do you know.... I finally have a new set of pics up after a very long time. Yes, my apologies to all who frequently come back to see what's new or to count the spiders that have made my blog their home. I read recently on the net that one of the important things to have a good blog was to update it regularly, like at least 3 times a week. I guess I fail on many counts going by that standard. Ha.

Anyway, what about castles? Well, they remind me of dreams... dreaming castles in the air. Well, while that is a saying which refers more to daydreaming than anything else, DREAMS on the other hand, are quite something else. I'm not talking about those that we have at night where we imagine ourselves as superman flying all over the HDB flats (I do sometimes), but rather those that we have in life.

Many of us have dreams. But few of us dare to chase after these dreams. We think we are not good enough for our dreams. Too stupid, too timid, too small, too powerless, too lazy. After a while, we think, "Nah... dreams are not for me. I'm just good and comfortable the way I am. Let someone else dream." So... what about sandcastles? They are equally fleeting, swept away by the constant beating of the waves. Yet, with the right technique, the right combination of sand, water and pressure, something so minute and small can turn into such a breathtaking piece of art.

Do you have a dream? I dare you to have one today. Why do I have so much confidence in you, you might ask. I don't. But I have confidence in the God who created you, who fashioned you in His image, the one who knew you even before the foundations of the world. Do you know this God? I dare you to know Him today. Only He can make your dreams come through the way they were meant to. He was the one who put them there in the first place. I dare to dream. Because I know my castles are not in the air. They are anchored solid in the one who gave me the dreams. Would you come dream with me?

Food, Glorious Food!

Someone mentioned to me after seeing the Lijiang Photos that he liked the one of the bowl of noodles the best. That got me thinking... why not I put together a set of photos of nothing but food??! Ha ha... Yufan, this is for you!!! Thanks for appreciating my work! You are in da house!!! Anyway, all of these shots were taken during my student exchange stint in Shanghai, China. If you look closely, you will actually notice that some of them are actually dishes that I cooked myself! See if you can guess which ones they are. Enjoy.

Trip To Lijiang

Streaming now, are some photos from my Lijiang trip in December last year. Some of us from church went there to teach English to the teachers and students in the English Language Department there. Lijiang is a beautiful place and the school was located right in from of the Jade Snow Mountain (talk about good view man...). The trip was fantastic. The students were incredibly responsive to the lessons we taught and we had great fun teaching them through games and groups activities. The highlight must have been the last day when the Dean of the College decided to treat our entire group to a farewell lunch. I guess he was THAT impressed with us. Well, all I can say at the end of the trip is that we did it not by our strength or by our own confidence but truely by the Spirit of God. All glory goes to Him. Enjoy the pics! :)

Has It Been That Long Already???

Jedd reminded me last night that I have not updated my blog in a whole month. Wow. Has it been that long already? The past month was certainly an eventful one. There was Evan's Wedding, Preparation for Lijiang Trip, the actual trip, the BIG Move to EXPO and then the SM2 camp. I then enjoyed a whole day of fun at SparksC in preparation for Jan camps and then joined some of our tribe people at Block 162 for 2 days of Experiential Learning Training.

Lijiang was a really good trip for me. I learnt much and I hope others learnt from me too. But more importantly, I saw how God orchestrated things for us. I had the great pleasure of having Narash along with me during this trip and enjoyed the time of close discipleship and getting to know him better.

More about my Lijiang experience later. For now, here are some photos.
