Photo Essay : "Eyes Wide Shut?"

I just find this photo surprisingly funny each time I look at it. Not sure why too. It's a mixture of the girl's nonchalant look and the old man's seemingly wide pop-out eyes. While it makes for a good candid shot, in reality, the old man's not really looking at the girl. He's not even on the same path as she is. Or do we know for sure. Ha. That's the magic of photography. It is able to tell stories. Even fabricate some.

The next time you look at photographs in coffee table books on subjects like cool architecture or interior spaces, remember too that good lighting, framing and composition sometime act as brilliant cosmetic artists, hiding the flaws and accentuating the cool factor. "Ahhh... now we know....."
